The treatment of infertility with acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine has been used for thousands of years. By treating not just the uterus but the woman’s whole body, we are able to target the cause and not just the symptom.

Sung uses the analogy of a pesky weed in your garden (your body). If you just cut the weed from the top and not address the root of the problem, that weed keeps coming back.

A study published in the medical journal Fertility & Sterility (volume 77, April 2002, 721-724) has announced that their success rate increased to nearly 43%. According to the report, 160 women have been undergoing IVF (in-vitro fertilization). Half the women had IVF transfers while the other half received acupuncture before and after the transfer. “Acupuncture seems to be a useful tool for improving pregnancy rate after assisted reproductive techniques,” they stated. “The analysis shows that the pregnancy rate for the acupuncture group is considerably higher than for the control group (42.5% versus 26.3%),” they wrote.

According to researchers from Weill Cornell Medical Center, there are 5 ways acupuncture can boost fertility:

Improves blood flow to the uterus which increases the ovum implanting on the wall
Regulates the endocrine systems, which regulate your hormones’ luteal phase defect and ovulation
Affects your hypothalamic-pituitary-ovarian line, which has positive impact on infertility
Regulates stress and anxiety, which can interfere and reduce fertility
Regulates your menstruation cycle
